Twelve weeks ago, CHANNEL [V] announced a nationwide hunt for a new presenter and over 6,000 people answered the call for online auditions – making this the biggest presenter campaign ever. Today, we can reveal that the winner of CHANNEL [V] PRESENTER SEARCH 2012 is MARTY SMILEY!

Announced this morning live on The Riff, 21 year old MARTY SMILEY from Melbourne has just scored himself the gig of a lifetime, joining CHANNEL [V] as a new presenter alongside Billy Russell, Danny Clayton and Carissa Walford.

In addition to being a youth worker at the Reach Foundation, MARTY SMILEY is also an Arts student and self confessed „80s tragic. He entered the Presenter Search because ever since he saw U2 and Pearl Jam perform together at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl when he was 15, he‟s been chasing down the dream of being a music television presenter.

Throughout the CHANNEL [V] PRESENTER SEARCH, MARTY SMILEY proved himself to be a force to be reckoned with. His online audition videos, interviewing Rove on the red carpet at the ASTRA Awards, chatting to Stonefield at the Melbourne auditions, or hosting Channel [V]‟s afternoon show WTF! MARTY continually took each task to the next level.

“This has undoubtedly been our biggest presenter search to date,” said Shaun James, General Manager, Foxtel Networks Music Channels. “Channel [V] was searching for a talent with a unique style and genuine passion for music who complemented our current [V]J line-up. From the get-go, Marty was someone that made us instantly stop and take notice. He has an incredible screen presence and what‟s exciting about him is his unpredictability. A whirlwind of creativity, we can‟t wait to have him join the Channel [V] family.”
MARTY SMILEY is equally as excited to start work at Channel [V].

“I don‟t care if its clichéd but it‟s been my dream to work in music television for ages,” said MARTY SMILEY after he was announced the winner. “So I’m totally stoked to get this opportunity and finally follow my bliss! I’m an ambitious kid with a head full of dreams and today I think I’ve officially ticked one off. I turned 21 this month, but I think this milestone trumps it!
