Thanks to Disney, we had the chance to see director James Bobin’s ‘The Muppets before its Australian cinematic release. This is our review of the film – but as usual – no matter what we say; we recommend that you still go to your local cinema and see the film because: There is no better critic than yourself!

‘The Muppets, tells the story of Walter (Voiced by Peter Linz), who is the biggest Muppet fan ever (well he is technically a muppet too but doesn’t know it yet), and after visiting places in his dreams, the iconic ‘Muppet’ finds out that an evil entrepreneur, Tex Richman (Chris Cooper), wants to destroy the Muppet studio in order to find oil.

Hearing the news, Walter, his brother Gary (Jason Segel) and his girlfriend Mary (Amy Adams), start to look for the only Muppet who is able to save the studio, Kermit The Frog (voiced by Steve Whitmire). Kermit, along with all the other Muppets have retired and been out of the spotlight for years but Walter convinced Kermit to get the whole Muppet gang back together to save the studio by doing a Muppet Teleton and obviously this will involve them in the most hilarious and classic Muppets situations.

‘The Muppets’, is so far one of the most anticipated movies of the year and a risky move from the filmmakers to bring the franchise back for the new generation. And it works perfect as it will make people of any generation laugh and love the characters, who would want to see a sequel after watching this movie.
The film is simple and clever, full of music and Muppet’s brilliance, with all the classic elements and no 3D or CGI Muppets…all is timeless and good old school Muppet’s style!.

The soundtrack is outstanding with funny lyrics in every musical moment of the film which will make you dance and laugh in songs such as Bret McKenzie’s “Life’s a Happy Song” and Paul Williams and Kenny Ascher’s “The Rainbow Connection” full of nostalgia. The best thing of all, is that the main characters of the film are The Muppets with no unnecessary characters during the entire length of the movie. Jason Segel, Amy Adams are just fantastic, showcasing their music skills – a perfect complement for Kermit, Walter, Miss Piggy and all the rest of the gang. Add to this the tons of celebrity cameos like Selena Gomez, Jim Parsons, Jack Black, Neil Patrick Harris, Whoopi Goldberg, just to name a few…and Jack Black was the funniest and most notorious one…(and for the Foo Fighters fans, Dave Grohl is also there).

Hard to believe but we must say, it was impossible to find flaws in this film. After you finish watching the film, you want to see it again and again because it is very addictive and has a magical effect that not many other movies have. You can’t stop smiling after leaving the cinema as you’re filled with happiness, thanks to all the beloved characters who are now back for the joy of the old and new generations of Muppet fans!…So far one of the best films of the year and a MUST SEE FILM!

‘The Muppets’ will be back to the big screen in Australian cinemas next JANUARY 5, 2012
