Thanks to Paramount Pictures, we had the lucky chance to attend a very special event where we saw some cool footage of the upcoming blockbuster GI JOE: RETALIATION.

The footage showed some very explosive scenes such as London under Cobra’s attack using the ultimate mass destruction weapon (as seen in the latest trailer) and how Commander Cobra and Storm Shadow escaped (with the help of a “beloved Cobra character” in the cartoons) in a sea of bullets and epic martial arts movements thanks to the white ninja.

A highlight of the footage was the new encounter between Snake Eyes (Ray Park) and his eternal rival Storm Shadow (Byung-hun Lee) depicting the epic duel between them, including bullets, shurikens, swords and obviously amazing martial arts choreography!

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson plays the role of Roadblock as one of the bad ass Joes which suits him perfectly. Even though we did not see much of him in the sneak peek, what we saw left us really looking forward to see him killing some cobra enemies.

Bruce Willis, the original Joe, was introduced in the footage as well, and we must say that his performance is pure Willis style, somewhere between John Mcclane and Rambo.

Just to finish off and avoiding too much spoilers, what left a big smile on our face was after seeing the look of the Cobra Commander and his army as every single character looks extremely alike the toys and the cartoons (especially the beloved Commander with his classic helmet and blue suit) and the cobra logo is on every vehicle…Seriously the film looks like as if you are playing with the action figures on a huge scale full of epic action scenes and world class special effects…Maybe the only let down were a couple of very unnecessary jokes (hopefully the film won`t be another Transformers: Dark of The Moon) Still, we have faith in director Jon M. Chu, Cobra, The Joes, because this sequel looks ten tons better than the first movie and will definitely be an epic action popcorn flick!

G.I. Joe: Retaliation opens August March, 2013
