Yesterday, on 16 April, we were invited to attend the grand opening of the new Madame Tussauds wax museum in Sydney where members of media had the chance to see it first (one hour) before the official ceremony and we were pleasantly surprised by the realism of all the figures.

The museum was divided into 11 sections including figures from film, sports, music and TV, just to name a few. Moreover, in order to make this even a better experience, visitors can find props everywhere, such as wigs that they can wear to take pictures next to the wax statues.

A highlight of the event was when Neighbours star Ian Smith, who plays the role of Harold Bishop in the Aussie TV show, arrived to greet the press and posing next to his wax figure. Mr. Bishop said he was honored to be incorporated into the museum which was a long process for the artists who were doing his statue, even joking about his chin shape.

The museum opened its doors officially at 10 am to the public, after the divisional director of Merlin Entertainments Group, Edward Fuller (next to the statue of Leonardo Dicaprio) welcomed the media and the very first visitors to the museum.

We don`t want to give too much away about what’s inside as this is a place you must experience for yourself. Here enjoy some postcards of the venue below:
