Big Time Rush is one of the most popular tv shows in USA. The show, created by Scott Fellows, is about the Hollywood misadventures of four young hockey players from Minnesota who are selected to form a successful boy band.
Following the success of the show, a new movie called “Big Time Movie“ was announced and to find out more about it, we had the chance to speak with one of the stars of Big Time Rush, the georgeous Challen Cates, who plays the role of Jennifer Knight in the show.
SR. Can you tell us how was the experience when you got the call to join Big Time Rush?
CC. In the beginning, we had no idea what a huge success the show would turn out to be, so my experience on the phone was more of gratefulness and anticipation. It wasn’t until the table read—where I met everyone—that I got really excited. I knew then it was going to be something special.
SR. How did you prepare yourself to play the role of Jennifer Knight?
CC.I immediately started watching movies and television series with great mom characters, since I wanted Jennifer Knight to be the kind of mom you would want to hang out with. I also thought of my own mom! She’s great and so cool in her own way, which informed my work as well.
SR. What can you tell us about the upcoming Big Time Movie? What fans of the show can expect?
CC. To have a blast! The movie is a mix of Austin Powers and The Beatles movies with several Beatles songs intertwined. You’ll be laughing and, most likely, humming along the whole way through!
SR. This is a question a fan of the show sent us: How are the boys (Kendall, James, Carlos and Logan) outside of the set…do you have any funny story to share with us about them?
CC.Due to our busy schedules, we don’t see each other outside of the set that often, but I can tell you this: Kendall is the most down-to-earth, James is even more handsome in person, Carlos is so sweet to my children, and Logan makes me laugh the hardest. They are all very warm, caring people who are immensely talented. I’m very lucky to work with such great guys!
SR. What would you say is the most rewarding project you had worked so far?
CC.I have worked on many projects that I adore, but the overall experience of being an actor and working on a variety of projects that challenge me each step of the way is truly the most rewarding experience of all.
SR. You also joined the Desperate Housewives in 2007 as well as CSI and Criminal Minds. What can you tell us about those experiences?
CC. They were all so great in their own way! The cast of each of those shows are so solid and I loved to watch how they work. Also, the experience of going from drama to comedy back to drama was exhilarating in and of itself—definitely kept me on my toes!
