Get your weapons ready and enter the battlefield, because Starhawk, a new shooter game from LightBox has arrived!.
The story of the game follows Emmett Graves, a mercenary who returns to his old territory for a “new job” where he must protect and rebuild devastated civilizations destroyed by a new mutant humanoid race.
The game is fun, set in an environment similar to the Mad Max films with high-technology, as a mix between a third person shooter and a strategy game like Warcraft because you not only have to protect your territory, you also have to get resources to build turrets, supply depots and watchtowers. You can build transports like hover bikes which move from one place to the other very quickly. Moreover, as in every shooter game, you can get different weapons including a rocket launcher to destroy any aerial menace. Furthermore, there are also some levels set outer space, where you must put a Macross style armor and fly around destroying enemies and landing in different areas in order to protect your lines.
The strategy part is the highlight of the game during its 5 hour length as your own decisions are the ones which will allow you to finish the game, knowing where you will place your basics and advanced structures, making the game flexible to more than one single solution.
The game also includes some fantastic cinematic in-between scenes, similar to the style used on Infamous 1 and 2, giving you a deeper experience while playing.
The multiplayer experience is what this game was made for, including different modes such as capture the flag, death match, team death match, and Zones. Furthermore, the game can have 32 builders in a typical match
Starhawk is perhaps not a masterpiece, especially if you play the solo campaign but it is still very easy to play and extremely addictive.
Starhawk is out now exclusively for Ps3
