‘On The Spot’ – 9th Annual ASTRA Awards Red Carpet

The subscription television industry gather last Thursday 21st July at Sydney Theatre for the 9th Annual ASTRA Awards. Hosted by Lee Furlong, Tara Moss and Helen Dalley.

Despite the horrible weather tons of TV stars and local celebrities walk through the glamorous red carpet. Spotlight Report was there ‘On the Spot’ to talk with some of the stars.

We have the chance to catch up with Jessica Mauboy. She told us: ‘I’m very excited to be here tonight. I will perform a whole new single called Inescapable that just have been released. Tonight is my first time performing it and on TV!.’ She also added ‘Inescapable is very special song, it was made by Diane Warren who is a very special friend, so I’m very happy to sing it‘

Tomorrow when the war begun and Home and Away star Lincoln Lewis stopped by to chat with us saying that he was very excited to be here especially because was the first red carpet for his mates Ben Schumann and Brenton Thwaites. Schumann mentioned that he was very excited about the presentations and the after party ‘It is a big night, I don’t wanna miss a second!’ Lewis mention that he didn’t have any favourites for tonight ‘They are all my favourites, but I’m looking forward to see Rove. Has been away too long, we need to keep him here!’.

We tried to get some spoilers for Underbelly Razor but he wasn’t allowed to talk about it, still  he told us about his character ‘He is lots like me, very cheeky and pretty confident. It was very amazing to get into a different era, the 20′s is an amazing period’.

He also told us a little bit about his new movie with Sharks ‘Bait‘ that will be released in January he said that the filming was amazing ‘They flooded the set, was incredible! I have never worked with so many stuff in my life, was crazy!’

Later on the musical comedy duo Nickelodeon’s Luke and Wyatt walked the red carpet joined by special friend Sponge Bob! The Perth duo presented the Favourite Program International category and were one of the finalist on Best New Talent category.They told us ‘we are very excited to see Jessica Mauboy performance, she is going to be great! we are also looking forward for the canapes and to wear my suit to be honest, canapes are fun! that’s why we are here mostly…CANAPES!’

The last couple arriving the carpet was L.A based Rove McManus and Tasma Walton. Rove told us about his new show that will be on air on September 19. When we asked about any non released info about his new show, he joked saying: “Well…I’ will be on it”.

Obviously we asked about the possibility to come back to Australian Tv and he said “Well this new show is going to be filmed in America but will be on Foxtel Australia and is only for the Australian market, so it will be a very interesting exercise to see the reaction of a show filmed in another country but aired here’.
