Orlando Bloom joined Sydney’s The Kyle & Jackie O Show this morning ahead of his time in New Zealand to film The Hobbit, speaking of his beautiful wife Miranda and baby Flynn, the hard work of being a Victoria’s Secret model, missing Valentines Day, his amazement at his luck in life.
Then he had a laugh on helium…
Jackie O:
Australia must be like your second home now.
Orlando Bloom:
Australia has become my home from home… well I’m married to a little piece of it.
Jackie O:
A sexy piece of it too!
Orlando Bloom:
Yeah!
Jackie O
Do you love it when you go to the Victoria’s Secret show, because every guy wishes he had a Victoria’s Secret lady and you’re there front row and she’s your wife! Do you get a little thrill out of that?
Orlando Bloom:
I was very proud of her, to have just had a baby and got back up, because I don’t think it’s easy for those girls, they make it look easy, it’s a lot of work to look good and to have the confidence to strut your stuff, and there’s always the people wanting to have a dig at you that’s the price you pay for being in the public eye.
Kyle:
You guys have people having a dig at you… ?
Orlando Bloom:
To be honest I imagine that people have a dig at us, because they have a dig at everyone else.
Jackie O:
Do you guys juggle a lot… do you mostly do the looking after of Flynn yourselves rather than babysitters?
Orlando Bloom:
There are times where it’s not possible so we have to have some help but where possible I try to make a point of doing it myself, he’s a baby, I hate to not see him walking and crawling and doing all those things, I just like hanging out with him…you could easily miss it, it’s the nature of our lives, time loses its perspective,… I don’t want that to be the case with Flynn, I want to have that connection and feel that bond.
Jackie O:
Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean were amazing movies do you have a preference out of the two?
Orlando Bloom:
Lord of the Rings was such a precious time in my life it was the beginning of my career, it was the first thing I ever did when I left drama school and I was all amped up and ready to go… I went from selling clothes on the weekend in Paul Smith in London and working at drama school all through the week to having a car and a surfboard, and I was working with some of the best in the business.
Jackie O:
If someone told you at the age of 16, ‘Orlando you’re going to be a big movie star, you’re going to marry a supermodel, you’re going to have a gorgeous baby…’
Orlando Bloom:
It’s funny I had that thought because I’m back in New Zealand after 10 years….if I told myself that I would be back here, with my family and be married to this beautiful woman and had all the fantastic success, I probably would have been jumping off the roof.
Kyle:
You’re not going to be in Australia with Miranda for Valentines Day?
Orlando Bloom:
No it’s a tragedy.
Kyle:
What was that chat like?
Jackie O:
She probably doesn’t care.
Orlando Bloom:
Miranda was like, ‘oh, you’re not going to be here… do I still get those earrings?’
