Western Australia’s ABBE MAY has released a new remix of her new single “Mammalian Locomotion” from Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and Cam Avery. Hot from their award for album of the year from Australia’s Triple J radio, the duo has done a cracking job in bringing out another side to Abbe’s blues rock sound.

Australian journalists have flagged her as a pioneering and important presence in the future of rock and roll and upon hearing Abbe May’s new single, New York reviews have sited MAMMALIAN LOCOMOTION as ‘some kind of hallelujah inducing revelation. A seduction song from a siren who is in possession of the voice of both god and the devil!’

After months in the studio with a new band, Abbe May has emerged with a whole lot of material sporting an even darker rock sound. The first single from her forthcoming album, MAMMALIAN LOCOMOTION begins to chart new musical territory for Abbe through an emotive exploration of human desire at its most fundamental level.

The MAMMALIAN LOCOMOTION film clip is a reflection of the contradictory elements of fierceness and subtle femininity found in the song. Shot in Brooklyn, New York with UK Director Zena Loxton, the clip features the ever under-stated and brooding Abbe and three snake-hipped roller dancing women from Brooklyn with moves that only women from roller-derby groups such as ‘Sisters In Motion’ could possess!

A prolific songwriter and inspired interpreter of old blues, Abbe has released 2 albums and 2 EPs to date. During this time, she has graced the stages of Australian festivals Southbound, Big Day Out and Homebake and opened for acts such as Tim Rogers, The Mess Hall, Billy Brag, Bob Log III and The Breeders to name a few. On top of this, for an unprecedented four years in a row Abbe has taken out Best Female Vocalist at the West Australian Music Industry awards.
