Australia has once again fallen in love with the comedic hi-jinks of Phil, Stu and Alan with THE HANGOVER PART II rocketing to the #1 spot at the Australian Box Office on its opening day.
Grossing $2,146,349, director Todd Phillips’ follow-up to his 2009 smash hit opened on Thursday 26th May in 246 cinemas nationally to become the biggest non-holiday opening day for the year.
Other comparative first day results for 2011 include Pirates of the Caribbean 4: $1,624,668 and Thor: $1,299,939.
With the first chapter grossing $513,525 on its opening day, there should be four times as many Australians waking up with a sore head this morning!
The Hangover was the highest-grossing R-rated (MA15+ in Australia) comedy of all-time, winning the Golden Globe for Best Film – Comedy or Musical.
And now, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, and Justin Bartha reprise their roles with Ken Jeong, Jeffrey Tambor, and Mike Tyson also rejoining the cast. In The Hangover Part II, Phil (Cooper), Stu (Helms), Alan (Galifianakis) and Doug (Bartha) travel to exotic Thailand for Stu’s wedding. After the unforgettable bachelor party in Las Vegas, Stu is taking no chances and has opted for a safe, subdued pre-wedding brunch. However, things don’t always go as planned.
What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but what happens in Bangkok can’t even be imagined. A presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures in association with Legendary Pictures, The Hangover Part II was filmed in Los Angeles, and on location in Thailand.
